The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

Well, everyone, the moment of truth finally arrived. And thankfully IT'S GOOD NEWS!!

Tom got accepted to Teach For America as of around 3:30 this afternoon. It was a thrilling moment for us, especially considering the agony of the slow past 4 weeks as we've anticipated the news. We weren't expecting to find out until after 6pm tonight, but thankfully I am impatient and was already regularly refreshing Tom's email in case they decided to give us the news early, which they did!

So where are we going? Does anybody recognize the city below? Don't worry, I wouldn't have either.

Tom will be teaching bilingual education in Kansas City, Missouri for the next two years. This was quite a surprise because we were expecting North Carolina, Mississippi, or Louisiana. I think we both did a double take when we saw Missouri, but we're thrilled just the same. The best part about this location is that Tom's uncle Gary and his family live there. We feel so blessed that we will be able to have family close by who can help us feel welcome and comfortable in this new area.

Tom will be attending training in Chicago from June 21-July 25 while I will probably be spending those 5 weeks with my, by then, hugely pregnant sister Sarah in Virginia. The timing works out very well because during those same weeks, her hubby will be away for training in Alabama for HIS new job with the Air Force, leaving her alone and very pregnant, which is never a good combination.

We are grateful that everything is working out so well and that we have been blessed to find a job during these hard times.
