Better Late Than Never

The time has come. I am officially baby hungry for this sweet baby girl to arrive. Throughout this pregnancy, I've felt excited to have another Arnett join our family, but I wasn't itching for a baby the way I was with Joey and Moses. I was swamped with guilt as I practically dreaded the idea of a girl with bows, frills, dresses and sass. I wanted to love this baby girl growing inside of me, but I remained emotionally unattached, associating my pregnancy with a tumor growing in my stomach more than a beautiful, sweet little girl that I would love and cherish forever.

In the past few weeks I've been forced into preparing for her arrival, something that I'd been putting off as long as possible. Something that I was dreading has ended up transforming me. With the onslaught of clothes, blankets, bibs, and more frequent doctors appointments, this "tumor" has finally become not only a baby, but MY baby, my Naomi. I'm anxious to meet her. I want her to come not only because I'm sick of being pregnant, but because I'm itching to hold, hug and kiss her.

Part of this switch came from the incredible baby shower that my sweet, dear friends Sarah and Sabrina threw for me. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by beautiful women who love and support me.

Have I mentioned how much I love my family and friends here in Pittsburgh? They're pretty much the best any girl could ask for.

  1. I thought I really wanted a boy and couldn't do all the girly stuff, but even I melted during my baby shower. So many cute things ;) So glad you turned that corner, too...and it was fun to see a pic of Sabrina!
