This Week's Highlights

This was a fantastic week for Mary and I. Here are our top five highlights:

5. Teach For America Interview Sign-Ups - This week I signed up for a final interview with Teach For America to take place on Tuesday of next week. It is an all-day interview that will take place at BYU's student center. The interview will ential presenting a 5 minute lesson to recruiters and other candidates, participating in a discussion on some of the problems confronted by the Teach For America partner schools, taking a problem solving written test, listening to a presentation on Teach For America, and a having a formal interview where they ask questions about my application. We are really excited about this opportunity and are hoping that is goes well.

4. Career Fair - Well, we actually didn't talk to any employers at the career fair. The fun part was introducing our friend Tyler to the recruiters from Smuckers. They lined him up for and interview later that day and he said that it went really well. Tyler's brother (and my former roommate) Caleb also applied to Smuckers to be the chemical engineer for their waste water treatment facility. We really hope they get the jobs. They will find out at the end of March.

3. Wii Fit - Our friends Kia and Sam have a Wii fit. They invited us over to try out the system and got us hooked. For the first time Mary and I are thinking about saving up to buy a video game system.

2. Babysitting - After three weeks of offering to do free babysitting in our ward, we finally had some takers. On Wednesday Mary spent time with three kids in our ward while their mom went to a funeral. On Thursday we had a little eight-month-old guy to hang out with while his mom went to class. He was probably the happiest and easiest baby I have ever met. For the entire three hours he was with us his expressions were pure curiosity and excitement. He didn't get fussy once.

1. Good Friends - We have had a great time hanging out with Kia and Sam this week. We've spent time with them five out of the last seven days. We had FHE together on Monday; Mario Cart on Thursday; movie night on Friday; a temple trip, a basketball game, and stake conference on Saturday; and stake conference again on today. Tomarrow we are having FHE with them. This looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

  2. Sounds like a fun, productive and fit (Wii..haha) week. Sure hope Caleb and his brother get internships with Smuckers so we can have them over this summer. Stay happy, dear ones.
