Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch (or dinner)? On Saturday night, Mary and I went to the annual Y Ball. The Y Ball is a semi-formal dinner and dance for married couples at BYU that is provided free of charge (including babysitting for those with little ones). We had a wonderful time. They had food catered from one of our favorite restaurants (though we think it actually gave me food poisoning the next day), beautiful decorations, and a live jazz band. We love BYU (even though I can't wait to move).
On Friday night, we got to babysit Darby, Finn, Presley, and Dash Hayes (aka the "Wacky Hayes"). Their older brother, Bowie, is one of our Cub Scouts but he was spending the night at a friend's house (apparently he was too cool to spend the evening with his Den leaders). We had lots of fun turning into human jungle gyms as children frequently jumped on our backs and hung off our necks. Mary counted our babysitting as one of our exercise sessions for the week (those kids may be light, but it starts weighing on you after an hour or so). We are learning all about how to manage children and it is definitely hard work. We've heard many a time that babysitting is the best form of birth control a couple can take, but we say Phooey! We can't wait to someday have our own little terrorizers running around our house.
